CURRENT VACANCIES – ALBUKHARY INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY (AIU)

Albukhary International University (AIU) is a private, non-profit university that to provide quality higher education to underprivileged undergraduate students. AIU has three faculties, namely the School of Business, School of Education and School of Humanities and Social Sciences, offering a total of 8 undergraduate programs. These three faculties will be fully operational in 2019.

We are now seeking to recruit motivated, enthusiastic and committed individuals who can enhance our students’ learning ecosystem. We are actively looking for young, energetic, capable and hardworking personnel who are compassionate.

1. HEAD OF HUMAN RESOURCES

(Based in Albukhary International University, Alor Setar, Kedah)

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree/Master’s Degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration or related field required;
  • Minimum 8 years’ working experience in human resources, preferably in a similar industry;
  • Experience in supervising and managing a professional staff particularly in education industry will be advantageous ;
  • Demonstrates a high degree of confidentiality in interpersonal interaction;
  • Strong understanding of the interviewing process, benefits administration, payroll and other HR function;
  • Possess excellent communication, business presentation, decision-making, strategic thinking, leadership planning skills, interpersonal and ethical conduct skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to increase productivity and continuously improve methods, approaches, and departmental contribution while remaining cost-sensitive;
  • In-depth knowledge of Employment & Industrial Relations legislative requirement and law;
  • Strong commitment to and interest in employee relations and communication;
  • Familiarity and skill with the tools of the trade in human resources including HRIS, Microsoft Office, file management and benefits administration;
  • Experience in organization development and change management;
  • Language proficiency in English and Bahasa Malaysia;

Responsibilities:

  • Guides and manages the overall provision of Human Resources services, policies, and programs for the entire company;
  • Development of an overall HR business plan with measurable objectives and a budget;
  • Work closely with the Campus’s management team to define employee development needs in order to implement Teaching & Development plans and programs to meet the organization’s strategic goals and objectives;
  • Support the academics at AiU in becoming an institution recognized for a culture focused on its people, high performing standards, world class leadership and ability to manage change;
  • Staffing of the HR department to effectively serve the needs of the organization;
  • Overall talent management strategy and implementation including workforce planning, recruiting, interviewing, hiring, training and development; performance planning, management development and improvement; and succession planning;
  • Oversee employment law compliance and compliance to regulatory bodies concerns;
  • Demonstrated proficiency in policy development, documentation, training, and implementation;
  • Oversees employee safety, welfare, wellness, and health;
  • Managing external executive recruiting agencies, employment agencies, recruiters, and temporary staffing agencies;
  • Analysis of the effectiveness of all human resources efforts both financially and in terms of whether they produced the company’s needed objectives and outcomes;
  • Implementing and revising a company’s compensation program;
  • Developing, analyzing and updating the company’s evaluation program based on competency model;
  • Preparing, maintaining and revising the company’s handbook on policies and procedures including salary scale;
  • Conducting new employee orientations and employee relations counselling;
  • Immigration matters for expatriates, licensing and teaching permit;

2. CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER (CFO)

(Based in Albukhary International University, Alor Setar, Kedah)

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree/Master’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or equivalent;
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA), Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) or Chartered Accountant (CA) designation preferred;
  • 10+ years related working experience, preferably in a senior financial managerial position;
  • Result-oriented, strategic thinker and planner;
  • Exceptional communication skills;
  • Advance knowledge of current financial & accounting computer application, including proficiency in MS Office and financial reporting software;
  • Experience in corporate finance is an advantages;

Responsibilities:

  • Oversees all company accounting practices, including accounting departments, preparing budgets, financial reports, tax and audit functions;
  • Direct financial strategy, planning and forecasts, conferring with CEO and department heads;
  • Studies, analyzes and reports on trends, opportunities for expansion and projection of future company growth;
  • Support/work in close cooperation with the CEO with the preparation of monthly and annual financial plans ;
  • Maintain speed and accuracy of billings and client payments;
  • Develops financial strategies by forecasting capital, facilities and staff requirements, identifying monetary resources, developing action plans;
  • Monitored financial performance by measuring and analyzing results, initiating corrective actions, minimizing the impact of variances;
  • Develops finance organizational strategies by contributing financial and accounting information, analysis and recommendations to strategic thinking and direction in line with organizational objectives;
  • Provide advice on how to increase revenue and reduce costs;
  • Manage the capital request and budgeting processes;
  • Maintain banking relationships which include to represent the company with investment bankers and investors;
  • Oversee employee benefit plans, with particular emphasis on maximizing a cost-effective benefits package;
  • Ensure that record keeping meets the requirements of auditors and government agencies;
  • Report risk issues to the audit committee of the board of directors;
  • Report financial results to the board of directors;

CURRENT VACANCIES – ISLAMIC ARTS MUSEUM MALAYSIA (IAMM)

Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia seeks suitably qualified candidates for the following positions:

1. JR. OPERATIONS EXECUTIVE – FOOD & BEVERAGES

Requirements:

  • Posses at least a Professional certificate, Diploma in Food & Beverage Service Management or equivalent
  • Self motivated, hardworking with positive outlook, excellent customer service and handle unexpected situations
  • Required language(s): Bahasa Malaysia and English. Other languages is advantage
  • Junior Executive specializing in Food & Beverages/Restaurant Services or equivalent are encourage to apply
  • Willing to work on weekends and Public Holidays
  • Preferably female

Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible to organise, schedule event or functions activities (internal and external) of the restaurant together with Marketing & Events team
  • Menu planning with the Chef & Finance members
  • Inspection of cleanliness, food setting, safety and health precautions
  • Any other duties assigned from time to time

2. RETAIL EXECUTIVE 

 Requirements:

  • Candidates must possess at least Diploma or Advanced/Higher/Graduate Diploma in Business Studies/Retail Management/Administration or equivalent
  • At least 2 year(s) of hands on working experience in retails, particularly in bookstores or warehousing
  • Knowledge of retail store management, computerised inventory systems, software and its procedures
  • Ability to work independently, weekend and Public Holiday
  • Good communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia (both verbal and written)
  • Preferably male

Responsibilities:

  • Generally to assist the Retail Manager in the daily operation of a retail store.
  • Customer service / Retail Sales / Corporate Sales
  • Back office and management, i.e. inventory control and store room management, stock requisition or replenishment
  • Marketing and Merchandising

3. SENIOR HEAD OF OPERATION (Female)

Responsibilities:

  • To overall in-charge and oversee activities directly related to operation departments;
  • To faithfully and diligently perform and exercise such duties or powers vested;
  • To improve the operational systems, process and policies to better management reporting, information flow and organizational planning and execution;
  • To provide a conducive working environment with discipline and teamwork;
  • To promote, develop and expand the interest and business activities of the Museum;
  • To conform and comply with all laws, rules and regulations including directives and instructions of any relevant authorities and/or governmental bodies as may be applicable.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Mechanical /Civil/ Electrical Engineering;
  • At least 10 years of working experience in building maintenance or any related field;
  • Able to analyze, evaluate and act on issues and/or problems, reach sound conclusions and take appropriate action;
  • Good command of written and spoken English, as well as good computer skill;
  • Able to handle multi-task, work under pressure and tight schedule, independently and proactively.

4. MUSEUM ASSISTANT (CUSTOMER SERVICE) –  MARKETING & EVENTS

Requirements:

  • Minimum SPM with related working experience is advantages
  • Fresh graduates with Degree or Diploma are encourage to apply
  • Pleasant personality, presentable and enjoy meeting people
  • Willing to work on weekends and Public Holidays
  • Able to communicate with all level of people especially in Bahasa Malaysia and English
  • Preferably female

Responsibilities:

  • To mann the customer service counter (greeting and ticketing)
  • To handle queries and complaints
  • To assist in guided tours

5. ASSISTANT CURATOR / RESEARCHER

Requirements:

  • BA/MA in humanities: History, Art, Museum studies, anthropology
  • Good command of English/Malays/Persian
  • Ability to communicate and is a team player
  • Ability to conduct research and is eager to join the museum family
  • Minimum 3 years experience in related or useful field

Responsibilities:

  • Conducting related research and preparing write ups on museum collections for permanent galleries, exhibitions and publications
  • Text translation (Arabic/Persian to English) and vice-versa
  • Observing gallery tour guiding for academicians and dignitaries
  • Proofreading for the Arabic/Persian translation of the IAMM Guide mini-book (the Arabic version)
  • Reading all the inscriptions of the artefacts in the museum that contain Arabic/Persian inscription and translating them into English, and analyzing them in terms of readability

6. JUNIOR SOUS CHEF

Requirements:

  • Candidate must possess at least Professional Certificate, Diploma in Culinary Arts / Food & Beverage Services Management or equivalent
  • Skill(s): At least 3 year(s) experience in preparing Middle Eastern food
  • Language(s): Bahasa Malaysia, English, Arabic is an advantage
  • Preferably male

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the daily operations of the kitchen
  • To ensures that all recipes, food preparations and presentations meet restaurant’s specification
  • Commitment to quality of the food, orderly and sanitized kitchen

7. HEAD OF CONSERVATION

Requirements:

  • Require a Master Degree /PhD in Conservation, Museum Studies, Heritage, Archive, History of Arts, Fine/Visual Arts or equivalent;
  • At least 10 years of experience in an active Conservation lab; knowledge of a broad range of scientific instrumentation including understanding of the history of materials;
  • Knowledge and skills to research, handle, investigate, clean, stabilise and care for artefacts by knowing of the technology and materials of artistic, scientific & technological objects and of the chemical and physical process of their deterioration;
  • Knowledge and demonstrable experience with simple to complex treatments on varied formats especially books, papers, paintings, woods, textiles, sculpture, metalwork, ceramics and glass;
  • Must have good practical skills to handle and treat fragile and delicate materials, good colour matching skills to fill and colour losses and great innovation to discover new ways of mounting and displaying collections in exciting and creative ways;
  • Enthusiasm and the ability to work effectively in collaboration with others;
  • Good communication, attention to detail and excellent hand-eye coordination, a positive attitude is also a plus;

Responsibilities:

  • Will assume wide-ranging responsibilities which include: surveying and project planning; treatment; disaster preparedness; pest management; handling and care training; storage and housing; managing the daily operation of the conservation laboratory and supervising subordinate staff; participating in professional development and outreach activities including tours and exhibits; ensuring compliance with international museum standards and best practices;
  • Responsible for the preservation, conservation, investigation and display;
  • Provides training and development within conservation;
  • Responsible for managing and supporting the activities of conservation staff;
  • Focussed on preparing objects for new galleries and exhibitions, or making sure that objects are sufficiently stable to travel on loan to exhibitions at national and international venues;
  • Involved with examining and assessing objects in order to determine the most appropriate level of treatment required;
