10th July – 15th October 2019
The exhibition explores coffee as the world’s most popular drink that has sparked a range of inspiration, opportunities, debates, and conflicts over the past 600 years. Despite its admiration, little is known that this social drink had actually been prohibited several times due to many factors. Through culture and curiosity, unique coffee traditions from different historical coffee regions are also shown to give the audience a ‘cup’ of Muslim hospitality in honouring one’s guests, alongside the related controversies in some regions. Amusing facts and fascinating information are also displayed to heighten visitors’ engagement and replicate the ambience of a coffeehouse setting. The exhibition is also concurrent with the International Coffee Day that is celebrated worldwide annually on the 1st of October.
