The Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia is committed to preserving and propagating knowledge. Publications are a vital tool in this quest. By the middle of 2006 the museum had published 16 books, covering a wide range of topics. Most of these publications are catalogues of exhibitions, although books of a more general nature are now being produced. The aim is at all times to support the work of the museum and to improve visitors enjoyment. We welcome comments on our published material.

The art of the Iznik potter has been admired for centuries, occupying a unique status among Islamic ceramics. Although the Ottoman Empire’s ceramic supremacy lasted little more than a hundred years, numerous examples have survived. Many of these are housed in the Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia, where the brilliance of Iznik colours and the originality of their designs are clearly apparent. This small book provides an introduction to a genre that is now more sought after than ever.
