The Glorious Sword Competition

The International Museum Day is an annual event that is celebrated by all museums around the world. In conjunction with the day, Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia has organised a Glorious Sword Making Competition. The event was held on 19th May 2006 (Friday), 21 Rabiul Akhir 1427H. 34 students from 9 groups participated in this competition. They came from 7 secondary schools around Kuala Lumpur and Selangor. The sword referred in the competition is the Prophet S.A.W. sword.

The objectives of this competition are to encourage students to enhance their skills in Islamic art as well as through this competition, the students will know the artistry of weapons in Islam especially the Sword of the Prophet S.A.W.

Each sword was judged according to its originality, creativity, understanding of visual and 3 dimensional aesthetic and also based on their group presentation.

The number of groups that participated in this competition was smaller compare with last year's Miniature Mosque Competition as most schools were having their examination during that week.
