We are looking for lively individuals with a keen interest in art to train as volunteer tour guides. This is a rare opportunity to acquire a new skill while becoming an important part of Malaysia's most fascinating museum. Interested individuals please email us at info@iamm.org.my
CURRENT VACANCIES
1. EXECUTIVES, MARKETING & EVENTS DEPARTMENT • Degree in Marketing, Mass Communication or equivalent • Working experience in Marketing is an added advantage • Good communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia, written and verbal • Enjoy meeting with different background of people • Ability to work with minimum supervision and meeting tight deadline • Willing to work on weekends • To assist the manager in marketing, public relations, event management and customer service
2. RECORDS & COLLECTIONS EXECUTIVES, CURATORIAL AFFAIRS DEPARTMENT • Male candidates with a bachelor’s degree in Information Studies with specialisation in Records/Archive Management or equivalent • Required skills : Database System • Good command of English and Bahasa Malaysia • Must obtained at least 6B/C6 in English at SPM level • Able to translate simple text from English to Bahasa Malaysia or vice versa • Knowledge in Jawi or Arabic would be an advantage • Able to work under pressure, meeting tight deadline and multi-tasking •Documenting artefacts • Accesioning and describing artefacts • Maintaining movement and storage of artefacts
3. TELEPHONE OPERATOR CUM ADMINISTRATIVE CLERKS, FINANCE & ADMINISTRATION DEPARTMENT • Minimum SPM with relevant working experience • Female candidates with pleasant personality and presentable • Able to speak simple English and fluent in Bahasa Malaysia • Able to work with minimum supervision and multi-tasks
4. MUSEUM ASSISTANTS, MARKETING & EVENTS DEPARTMENT • Minimum SPM with working experience in Customer Service • Fresh graduates with degree. Diploma may apply • Pleasant personality, presentable and enjoy meeting people • Able to communicate with all level of people • Willing to work on weekends and Public Holidays • To mann the customer service counter • To handle queries and complaints • To assist in guided tours
5. ASSISTANT MANAGERS, MARKETING & EVENTS DEPARTMENT • Degree in Marketing, Mass Communications or equivalent • Hands on working experience in Marketing at managerial/senior executive level • Good understanding of Marketing, Public Relations, and Event Management • Excellent communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia, verbal and written • Ability to plan, analyse, and implement of marketing and public relations activities, efforts and strategies • Ability to lead, train, and motivate team members
6. SECURITY ASSISTANTS, SECURITY DEPARTMENT • Minimum SPM with relevant working experience • Male candidates age below 35 with good health status and physically fit • Able to work on shifts including at night, on weekends and Public Holidays

INTERNSHIP/ATTACHMENT The museum welcomes foreign and local students who wish to participate in relevant internship programmes. Interns have the opportunity to participate in departmental duties that will expose them to a real working environment. Each intern will be placed in the department that is most appropriate for their line of academic studies. Listed below are the most likely areas for attachments:
Curatorial
Graphics
Marketing and Events
Display
Conservation Acceptance of applications for internships is at the discretion of the management. The number of students that may be accepted is limited to 2 students within IAMM at any particular time.
Applications should be submitted by educational institutions, addressed to the Museum Director, at least three months before students commence the internship. Students are advised not to apply directly.
RESEARCH ATTACHMENT These attachments relate to studies and research on Islamic art history and conservation. It is desirable that applicants should have reached an advanced level of experience or training.
