The Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia (IAMM) is reaching its 20th successful year in organising an Arabic Calligraphy & Craft Course (Kursus Seni Khat & Kraf). The course is collaboration with Persatuan Seni Khat & Kraf Malaysia (PSKK), conducted as weekend classes under the guidance of PSKK’s professional calligraphers. These classes will take place in Education Workshop, IAMM from 5th January 2019 until 4th May 2019 (every Saturday or Sunday).
The objectives of these workshops are:
- To provide a place for calligraphy enthusiasts to study and practice this beautiful handwork of traditional art.
- To introduce one branch of the Islamic arts that focuses on the graceful of writing Arabic letters.
- To stimulate calligraphers to produce commercial products.
Course works involve :
- Introduction to Arabic and Jawi letters
- Art of calligraphy
- Calligraphy tools
Medium of instruction : Bahasa Malaysia
Workshop fee : RM360.00 for the whole course (excluding stationary tools & reference note)
Basic Class (Under 18 years old)
Time: 10.00 am – 1.00 pm (every Saturday or Sunday)
Basic Class (Adult) & Advanced Class
Time: 2.30 pm – 5.30 pm (every Saturday or Sunday)
Calling all enthusiastic learner and supporter of Islamic arts to join us in this five-months long course. Participants will be taught and exposed to the proper technique of writing Arabic calligraphy scripts such as Nasakh, Riq’ah, Thuluth, Kufi and how to paint on canvas. For the Advanced level, and additional lesson on Diwani Jali will be included.
